EAST TENNESSEE AREA
Southern portion of East Tennessee (Oak Ridge, and Chattanooga's North River and First Alliance Churches): "Lunch on the Lake"
At Retreat last Fall, we ate our Saturday lunch by Areas, after which we talked about a covenant of salt -- promising to work together within our area to encourage one another, and to meet for fellowship and prayer. Praise the Lord, on Saturday, June 5, the ladies in the southern portion of East Tennessee (Oak Ridge, and Chattanooga's North River and First Alliance Churches) met for "Lunch on the Lake" at the home of Carol and Gene Hall in Soddy Daisy. Twenty-two ladies and teens of the host group, North River, attended; four came from Oak Ridge and seven from First Alliance! Under the direction of our delightful hostess, Carol, each group provided food for the delicious lunch. One of the North River young women, Crystal Horner, shared her testimony of the Lord's work in her heart as she learned to accept His gift of a physically and mentally challenged son, especially as his birth altered her plans for serving overseas. Elaine Robbins, North River's AWM Director, challenged us re our giving to the three current needs (National Project, Outfit Fund, and National Ministry Fund), and an offering was taken. Time was also spent in prayer for our international workers. Following the meeting, those who wanted a boat ride on the Tennessee River were given the same by Gene Hall! Franklin, TN: The Alliance Women from Faith Community Church in Franklin enjoyed a wonderful weekend in the Smokies, February 26-28! We traveled east on I-40, stopping at a newly discovered yarn shop and quilt store. Freedom! Our speaker for the weekend was Dian Belbeck, a 20 year teacher of Precepts Ministry Bible Classes. She shared her testimony and the importance of God's Word. One of our ladies arranged a beautiful "tea bar" so we were able to partake of many new blends of tea. Saturday afternoon during our free time we were able to check out the nearby outlet mall. We also tried the new "Zumba" exercise routine! Throughout the weekend Lisa Smythe, our local AWM Director, led us in praise and worship times. We spent time praying and sharing how God had guided and directed us in the past. It was a wonderful weekend of fellowship and focusing on God's majesty in the Smokies.
