Southern District Fall AWM Retreat is October 22 – 24, 2010W e will again meet at the Springville Camp and Conference Center in Odenville, AL – easily accessible off I-59. This is a lovely place, set in the hills: the grounds are most pleasant with walking trails, and a lake with boats to use on it. The rooms are motel style, and the food is delicious. You will have opportunity to hear from two of our District’s international workers – Reneé Anderson and Terry Newman! As well, our AWM National Director, Susan Bernard, will be with us this year! Our music will be under the leadership of Kathy Lamb - who will have her talented daughters with her once again.A few important things to note: Cost :Adults - $100, which includes a non-refundable but transferable registration fee of $50.** Teens - $ 70, which includes a non-refundable but transferable registration fee of $40. This covers your room and five meals. Each room has a queen, a double, and one bunk bed in it, so can house two to six ladies, depending on your preference. Saturday only – Adults - $30 Teens - $20 This includes the noon meal; any other meals are $5 each. Registration and additional meal requests will not be accepted after October 13th.** Because in September we must pay the Conference Center three-fourths of our total anticipated bill, if your payment in full reaches our District AWM Treasurer, Marilyn Martin, by September 15 (check in hand!), you will pay only $95 for the weekend. Any registrations received after September 15th will be for the full $100 and will not be accepted after October 13th.Rooms will open at 4:00 PM Friday; we are to be off the grounds by 11:00 AM Sunday. Click here to open a printable PDF Sign-up Sheet for Retreat; begin even now to get your ladies registered, and pray with us for a weekend richly blessed of the Lord. SPECIAL PROJECT Each year at Retreat we have a special project to assist either one of our international workers or a ministry within our District. This year we will once again be donating items for the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Koutiala, Mali – where our very own Terry works! Items needed by the hospital are newborn or 0-3 month size undershirts or kimonos, little hats and booties, receiving blankets, and newborn disposable diapers. Before coming to Retreat, it would be helpful if your ladies could package their gifts as follows: one shirt or kimono, one hat and pair of booties, one receiving blanket, and one of those disposable diapers in a one-gallon Zip-loc bag. This makes them ready for immediate use in the hospital where time is always at a premium. (It would be helpful, too, if you would plan to give to me the value of what your ladies are donating. I must have a total value to submit to the shippers, Shelby Alliance Church, for customs purposes. Thank you!) Let’s overwhelm Terry with our gifs for these precious little ones! Remember , too, we always take three offerings during Retreat – for our Alliance dorms at the Dakar Academy in Senegal (Jewel Evans tells us that they need to replace computers), for our District Expense Fund, and as a Love Gift for our speakers. Pray about this as well, and plan to come prepared.
