CENTRAL AREA

"Salt is good for seasoning..." Luke 14:34

The Central Area of our District met on March 6, 2010, for our Spring Rally at the Parkway Community Church in Gadsden, AL. There were 42 ladies in attendance. We were graciously welcomed by Katherine Worley, the local Director. Sharon Henning gave the response and opened the meeting with prayer. Karen Smith led our opening song, The Salt of the Earth, which had been written and composed by the pastor of our Mt. Olive Alliance Church, Lawrence Alton Smith, specifically for our theme.

Karen Smith presented the first reading of the Nominating Committee Report. (The offices for election were: Director-Jan Serena-2yr. term; Treasurer-Rhonda Lowry-2yr. term; Secretary-Cherylbeth Smith-1yr. term to finish Carolyn Ates' term; and one Member at Large-Sue Roth-2yr. term.) We then had the roll call of the churches. Following the announcements, Mt. Olive's ladies received the offerings for Dakar Dorms and the Area Expense. We collected $185.33 for the Area Expense and $217.00 for the Dakar Dorms. Karen Smith led in a time of worship in song. Dr. Ellen McLaughlin led the ladies in our time of prayer for our Overseas Workers. After a time of prayer, Dr. Ellen gave the introduction of our speaker for the day, Judy Gaskin.

Karen then presented the 2nd reading of the Nominating Committee Report and all nominated were elected.

We gave out door prizes and the pastor's wife, Patricia Hengle, gave the blessing and directions for lunch. Following our lunch, we sang songs of worship and were blessed by the special music of the Gadsden ladies. 

We were challenged from God's Word to be salt that can be used, no matter our personality.

Our next Area Rally is October 2, 2010, at the Brewster Road Church; we are looking forward to God's Blessing during that time together. We were also blessed to be a part of the District Fall Retreat at Springville Camp and Conference Center this past October and are looking forward to the Fall Retreat next October.
